Forgiving the things they say

Forgiveness. It’s such a vital part of the life as a mother, but no one has ever (at least not on this blog) said it was easy. Our children, no matter how much we love them we do and say things that we never expect, that push us to the limit, leave us with mouths hanging open, and grasping for ways to respond. We have to choose to not harbor anger from day to day and even moment to moment. We have to choose to forgive whatever they might do…or say.

Pickle and I found ourselves in the same situation recently.

We both needed to go potty.

Pickle went first in the way of tiny children.

Scooted up to the front of the seat. Feet dangling. Propped up with his hands. Did what he needed to do.

He flushed. Hopped down. Stood back to observe my turn.

He speaks.

“Wow, mommy! Your bottom is so big it fills up the whole seat!”

Forgiveness or revocation of an upcoming birthday…I haven’t decided yet!

  1. I'd say that definitely calls for revocation of at least his next two birthdays...lol

  3. Wait. Bigger is better, right? He's probably just jealous. Just tell him if he works hard enough, someday his bottom might be half as good as yours, but ONLY if he works hard.

What say you?
