Weight Watchers Weekly Check-In 4

Overview:

There was nothing overly dramatic one way or another that happened this week. The only unevent, lol, was that we had was that we started cultivating our first Family Germ of the winter. Luckily, it is just a head cold, mild cough, make you very tired kind of  bug. The kids had it first and it hit me on Saturday, but still isn’t gone yet.

With the kids drooping throughout the week, and then me on the weekend there wasn’t a lot of cooking that took place. I did make a really delicious vegetable and barley soup on the first day of my Weight Watchers week and then ate a lot of leftovers of that because it was low points. But mostly we just kind of ate what was around and what was easy. The kids ate a lot of cereal. I did not eat cereal even when it was delicious Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

I didn’t do a great job with breakfast again this week. I did eat some of the yogurt, but I think that next time I go shopping I’m going to try and find something frozen, but still healthy that seems appealing to me.

I ate more salad and fruit this week. For lunch, I’d been having Special K crackers, Turkey Pepperoni (which is now a staple in my house) and a slice of reduced fat cheese, and a can of no-sugar added fruit.

Overall, by the time Sunday rolled around I still had quite a few of my weekly points left and since I was sick and not eating that much I had my hubby buy me some Ben & Jerry’s because if that’s not comfort food I don’t know what is! I ate it for lunch and dinner for a whopping 24 points.

Monday and Tuesday were my sickest days and I ended up not spending all of my daily points and not even using all of weekly allowance.

I did exercise once this week before everyone started being sick. I used one of those mini-stepper things for 20 minutes at “moderate intensity” and earned myself 1 activity point. I was not impressed!

This coming up weekend I know that I’m going to be in restaurants a few times due to a fun little getaway I’m taking myself on so I’m trying to decide what I’m going to do for that 24 hour period.

Results:

I lost 1.2 pounds this week. I’m a little cranky about it, that’s the smallest amount that I’ve lost so far and I “wasted” points, but didn’t lose any extra weight despite my not being hungry. I am trying to keep some perspective though because the last time I tried to lose weight on my own it took me 12 weeks to lose 8 pounds. Using Weight Watchers I’ve lost 6.2 pounds in 4 weeks.

I also took my measurements again this week. I guess I’ve settled into an every other week pattern there. I’m happier with this. In the last two weeks I’ve lost 3.5 inches bringing my total to 6.5 inches in 4 weeks.

Smaller Casualties

In our epic struggle with life post adoption there have been lots of things that have slipped through our fingers. Some of those things I've scrambled to catch before they hit the floor and shatter and some of them I don't spare a second glance. It's kind of like decluttering...you decide what important and you let the rest go.

Here is my list of my 10 Most Unmissed Casualties Due to Much Recent Upheaval

1. Wearing makeup daily. Yes, they have mascara that can lengthen, enhance, darken, curl my eyelashes while making unsuspecting men and women that I walk by want to carry me away and worship me. Thanks, but I'll pass. When they make a mascara that will stop my children from threatening each other like they're little knee-high gangbangers then they'll have my attention and faithful business.

2. Dusting. I'm willing to bet all the money that I wish I had on the fact that not one tantrum in my house has been because my kids don't like the dust on the entertainment center. (However, if they would quit smearing yogurt on the tv then *I* would have less tantrums.)

3. The Guilt of Feeling Like I Should Know My Neighbors. Seriously, the fewer people who want something from me these days the better. I know that's not very nice, but I'm pretty tapped out.We smile at each other and he shuts the van door for me when I forget... that's about the relational depth I can muster up these days.

4. Reigning in My Vices. Some families come back from adopting and raise money for wells, support orphanages, or increase awareness. My family came home from adopting and are supporting the local pizza joint and bookstores. Plus, if I were Catholic I could keep the Priest busy listening to my confessions.

5. Pet Causes.  There's toxins in the container storing my leftovers? Don't care! The Blue-Breasted-Green-Foot-Horned-Speckled-Hummingbird is losing it's mating ground due to highway development? No sympathy for him! He should try having three kids and then see how much mating he gets done! Scientists have discovered that a Venti Raspberry White Chocolate mocha has a day's worth of calories in it? Hmph! It must be nice to get to leave the house all day and go to work! Keep it to yourself!

6. Sharing. As my dear friend says, "they'll learn to share someday, but it doesn't have to be today!" Yes, I would like three of those, and three of these, and three of that, and three of everything!

7. Finicky Friends. Whew! There's nothing like a little chaos and attachment disorder to winnow out who really likes you and who was hanging out with you just to have someone to split the dinner bill with. This one adds the fun element of surprise to your life too because sometimes the people that stay and the people that go aren't what you'd have thunk.

8. Silly Beliefs. Quit Facebook? No, because then I'd never talk to anyone over the age of five. Give up caffeine? No, because then I would make the entire world feel my (very tired) wrath. Raise goats in my backyard? No, because I have enough kids.  Take up knitting? Have you seen those needles? Someone would be stabbed, Day 1.

Okay, I was going to make up 10 of these, but it's late and I've had a headcold all weekend and I have to sleep with a snoring baby. But I'm sure that YOU, my dear reader, are bright and perky and fresh. What are some small casualties resulting from your life lately?
